Do you feel that bitterly cold air? It’s winter baby, which means that pond hockey season is right around the corner. To celebrate, the fine folks at the Pond Hockey Classics (that would be the New England PHC in New Hampshire and Lake Champlain PHC in Vermont) are bringing the ugly. As in really ugly. With a face that would make Chris Nilan wince, this toothless warrior has battled it out in the corners, eaten dozens of high sticks, and yet still manages to crack a smile. Ahhh, hockey.

The weathered mug is the new mascot for the Pond Hockey Classics, and adorns the first-ever PHC t-shirt made by tournament sponsor Earthtec. As part of the release, the PHC wants you to help name this ugly fella, who is currently going by “Slashkin Slapcheckov.” The PHC crew thinks you can do better than that. To enter your suggestion, simply comment on this PHC Facebook post. If someone comes up with a better name than “Slashkin” by December 31st, they’ll receive a free softshell jacket courtesy of Earthtec. Keep your entries clean or we’ll send Slashkin to steal your girlfriend.

The organic cotton t-shirt officially goes on sale Saturday, December 11th. To get it in time for Christmas, your order must be received by Friday, December 17th. Stay tuned to the PHC website and Facebook page for details on how and where to purchase.
