Ice Level During Winter

Postby kerice22 » Mon Feb 02, 2015 10:38 am

I am a first time rink builder in Illinois and have been noticing that the level of my ice has been decreasing throughout the winter. I am not sure if this is caused by ice/water evaporating during the warm days that we have been having during winter or if there is a hole in my liner. Has anyone encountered this problem? Should I gradually be adding more water on cold nights to build up the ice level?

First timer here too. I have this problem. My low side seems to be losing water but really slowly. I can't see any water outside the rink so I'm not sure if it's a leak or evaporation like you said. I did notice that the ice has receded from my boards by about a half inch. I'm assuming it is the sun doing that.
