Rink 2013-2014

Postby kevmac » Thu Dec 05, 2013 5:27 pm

After some horrific board deaths this fall, the rink finally took shape and we got in our earliest skating ever.

Here is the post-skate ice on November 29th:

This is the ice the next day after about 6-7 resurfaces the night before:

And finally my two girls getting in their first skate on November 30th, with the dasher boards installed at both ends:

That rink is a MONSTER! How big is it? I think "Boards" are going to be our next project.. my son is already asking why we don't have any - ugh.. seriously.

Rink looks great.. and your girls look like they're already having a blast!

Rink is 32' x 75'. Lower boards are 3'x8' and all the others are 4'x8'. The girls have been skating since they were 4 (they are 11 & 13 now) and skate like the wind. Unfortunately, much to Dad's chagrin, they won't play hockey or ringette but I guess the fact I don't have to pay for their hockey means I can play more! :-)

I've considered each year not doing the rink but they veto that decision every year, as do all my buddies.
