First time rink builder

Finally looks like colder weather is coming to NY so I flooded my rink.

It turned out ok, my slope was worse than I originally thought. I'll have to use higher boards on the low side next year. The rainbow pool noodles are a little silly but they were cheap and my kids are young so they think it looks cool.

Looks good. How's it look now? I bet you have some ice if your temps are like they are here in the southern Adirondacks.

I have about an inch and a half of ice right now. I'm hoping the kids can get on it by Saturday.
Of course Sunday is supposed to hit 50 then back down to freezing the next day.
Really crazy weather so far.

I got to about 3 1/2 inches and it snowed so I went out there and cleared it. Then I ran the rink rake.
It worked really well.

Only problem I have is some large air bubbles that are causing cracks.
Should I leave them alone or drill a hole into them and fill with water?

If there is enough ice over top of the air pocket, just leave it alone. If close to surface and ice integrity is low, then yes fill it. I would be careful with drill, don't want to damage the liner.

I left it alone and skated tonight with no issues, well only that it was -20F.

I have several pockets this year as well but there is a couple of inches between them and the surface so nothing to worry about. They just look goofy is all.

Congrats on the skate.
