Current ten day forecast is still above freezing.
I'm considering just flooding this weekend (12/6) and letting it sit.

This reminds me of when I bought the snowmobile and it didn't snow the first year.

For better or worse, I'm finishing up my flood as I type this (going on 23 hours!)
Looks to be mild until mid-week with low twenties and teens by next weekend.
Hopefully skating by New Year's Eve!

Just got my first skate in!

That was a different skating experience than I had ever had.
Not sure if it was the ice being so hard, imperfections in the surface, or just rust, but I was stumbling all over the rink.
Almost felt like I had toe picks on.

It's currently about 15 degrees, but I'm going back out in a few to further humiliate myself in front of my neighbors!

One more thing:
52 feet felt shockingly small.

Congrats on the first skate!! I hear you on the rink feeling small.... my 44 x 40 requires just about constant turning. It's still awesome to be out there with my boys.

We're still flooding and flooding to recover from the week of warm weather and the foot of snow/slush. Did I mention that we're flooding? LOL Slowly but surely the surface is recovering.

Update:
Second skate went much better.
Once the surface got a little scuffed up I was able to move freely.
It's COLD.
Not to worry east coasters, the rink weather is coming.


I'll post some nice photos tomorrow after I hang my netting and put the kick plates up.

Got the green pool noodles, kick plates, penalty box, and net up.
I've got to take the net back down and run a draw string through it, but that can wait for another day.
