So, money is short this year and I didn't get a new liner. I used the one from last year, seemed good enough but I had the hose filling for like 12 hours, it filled for a while but it didn't move for the last 4 or 5 hours.

It's leaking for sure. Here's the results ;

So my question is, how do I save this for the kids???

Do I let it freeze and try to flood it again?
Do I spray multiple thin layers?
Do I pack snow over it and spray?

I will never recycle a liner again but how to save this year's season.

Is there any chance that you can find the leak, if so I would patch it. If you can't, then you have to limit the amount of water that you put on at a time. You can definitely fill the rink with snow, pack it down as best to level and start making your base that way. It's definitely more time consuming (and frustrating) but you can definitely recover the rink via this method.

I think finding the leak will not be possible sadly.

One technique I tried with a customer last year after their liner's seam failed is to wait until a snowstorm, and then attempt to go with the 'old fashioned' method of packing it down and spraying it. You'll need very cold temps for the entirety of the season, as a thaw will expose the holes you've found already, but if your climate will support it, it's worth a shot.
