hollow ice

We recently had a lot of rain here in mass w/48 deg weather,last night i resurfaced my rink.The temp now is in the teens,i came home to find 90% of my rink is good but there us a huge patch of hollow ice.I took my ice scrapper and scrapped it off but underneath is just a big void,like there was an air bubble or something.please help

Yup, that's shell/shale ice. Pretty common, normally associated with frigid cold...the water freezes on the top too quickly and leaves a void underneath. Best bet is to walk around and crunch it all up, then resurface. That'll fill the gaps and get you smooth again.
