How small is too small?

Postby mrsnesbitt » Mon Oct 06, 2014 1:56 pm

I have a small backyard but am interested in constructing a rink for the family. My question for the group is, how small is too small to even bother? I could maybe do a 10 x 20 but that might even be pushing it. My kid and her cohorts are 6, if that's a factor. Thanks!!

That is pretty small, but I say do it anyways. You'll get a flavor for the work involved, you'll see if the kids will use it, and then you'll be surprised at how creative you get to make it larger in future years. They're doing pretty cool things with backhoes these days...

My rink in 10x25, this is my first year doing a rink so my opinion is smaller is better for a first time try. I will use it for my daughter to practice her shot and maybe some tight turns.

Looks like the perfect place for some quick up-and-backs!

Oh that's very cool Sunfire67! That's true, it might be a great size for her to just practice skating skills. Maybe we can convince a neighbor to build the full on rink for games. ;) Thanks!
