Hi All,

Just curious if anyone had done any In-Ice logos on their rinks. Was snooping around and found this site http://www.ddisigns.com/printedicelogos ... MgodeG8AcQ

but, as a DIYer I was looking for an alternative to buying--something that i might be able to do on my own for a bit cheaper, and have it be reusable. I emailed to get some general ballpark pricing from them on what something like that would cost, but in the meantime, thought I would ask around here....

Would likely prefer to do a custom look (and not have to paint).

Also thought about buying a FatHead http://www.fathead.com/nhl/chicago-blac ... src=browse and "icing" it in but might not be as fun as a custom logo...

Anyone have experience with this?

This is one of those things where I always feel like I'm the bearer of bad news...but putting logos in your ice isn't the greatest idea. Just like when a leaf or pine cone falls onto your ice and gets melted in, a logo (or even red or blue line) draws the sun and can affect your ice quality in that spot. Now I've never done it, so take that into consideration, but that's pretty much the consensus with veteran rinkbuilders I know. I suppose if your rink gets almost all shade that this would be less of an issue.

Not a problem....just thought I would ask. I think you are right in that it would be tenuous at best, but just thought i would ask....

I've painted line and creases on the ice in the past. They look great in January when it's nice and cold. Once February hits and the sun starts warming up a bit, it goes to hell pretty darn quick. Last year I opted out of painting the creases just because of the crappy year we had - my goalies didn't appreciate it.

As for logos, I prefer them on the boards (better for the ice) - as long as you have boards high enough to 'support' them.
