Hi my name is Dan from Leominster, MA. I'm a life long hockey player that always wanted a backyard rink. I finally own a home and I think I can pull it off this upcoming season. I am very happy that I found this forum site and hope that I can get some questions answered. I just want this rink to be a success, but I need some advice with the whole process.

Thanks for the welcome, I'll be posting very soon.

Hey Dan....welcome! You're in the right place. All of us have been where you're at now, and we can help overcome some of the common pitfalls. Please, before you do anything else, read our blog post on finding your level. That is the number one biggest issue new rinkbuilders face - underestimating their slope. Once you have actual numbers, the rest of your questions (how tall should my boards be, how much should I brace) are easier to answer.

Hi Joe, I'm so glad I found you guys to help me withy first build.

I'm actually planning on measuring out my potential rink this weekend. I want to get an idea of size, level, and be able to start a list of material.

I'll be back on here for sure.
