Can't wait for some cold weather to arrive...

After a summer/fall of planning, we determined the slope of the yard and laid out our boards....We went with 2x12s. Because we had a 4" slope from one end to the other, I ended up "scribing" boards so that the tops of the boards are all approximately level. Hopefully we didn't screw it up!

Anyway, First time rink builder and wanted to say that I think the website is awesome and has been very helpful as this whole things has been put together....

Bring on the COLD

Ended up buying my Liner from one of the best places around on the North Shore---Been going here since I was a little kid. And they are a great source of additional knowledge and materials if you need some help in building your rink....

I'd watched that vid before...seems like an awesome place. I believe they actually sell Nicerink liners (into the hundreds, I'm told). But if I ever make it out to IL, I definitely want to make the pilgrimage to the tiny hole in the wall with the strange entrance.

Very nice indeed. I tried the lights like that one year until a couple of errant pucks sent exploding glass shards on the ice and the snow around the rink - that was the last year for that idea. Hopefully yours last a little bit longer than mine. :-)

The Lights have yet to explode, but I did lose one of my goals due to what I think was the cold weather and a hard slap-shot from the "Squirt" that lives next door....all good problems to have (cold weather and hockey loving neighbors!)
