Single digits overnight and the ice can FINALLY hold my 200lbs. Fortunately today is a "work from home" day so you know I'm taking a long lunch. Anyone else skating after a looooong, warm December?

I walked out on the pond this morning and it seems really good. Even though we are supposed to get back up above freezing later this week, I think I am dragging the hose down tonight and flooding an area to even it out and we are finally going to give it a shot.

I don't think I can wait any longer!! I need to get out there!! :)

still high thirties and creeping on 40 here in indiana. supposed to be warm this week with lower 20's highs the middle of next week. this weather sucks. ready for cold and snow.

I checked 3 ponds today and found one that I think I can skate on so it looks like tomorrow will be my first skate of the season!

I finally got out for my first skate yesterday. Due to my uneven yard the water isn't TOTALLY frozen yet and some was pushing out of the corners when I was skating 'hard' but I was able to get a good hour skate in anyway! I want to skate again but I dont know if its worth the risk with the warmth...bummer!

....but not in Northeast, Ohio. Filled on 12/27 in anticipation that weather forecast would hold to make ice. I had 1/16" in 24 hours, but temps rose and then I had an above-ground pool for 3-4 days. Then temps dropped last weekend into early this week and made ice 2 - 2.5'" thick, but not solid enough to skate. Today temps in mid-high 40's so I assume I will be looking at my above-ground pool again when I get home from work. Long range forecast shows lower temps mid next week. SO for now just hoping for COLD and enjoying indoor hockey with my Pee Wee.
