Maximum temperature for skating?

We had our first skating party last weekend, and were planning another for Saturday. Unfortunately the current weather forecast calls for a high of 37-38 with a low of 31-32. It's also supposed to be partly sunny. It's a brief spike in otherwise great temperatures, and of course it falls on the only day this weekend we can have the party.

We're looking at four families being on the rink, approximately 17 people. Would you guys attempt this? I'm afraid the skating is going to suck with the soft ice, and it's going to get chewed up real quick. What are the highest temps you've skated in, and still had success?

We're looking at the same situation this weekend, although its family visiting, so we're recommending morning and evening skates... The temps aren't particularly concerning assuming you have a good base, but the sun and the temps combined will make the top a little slushy. If it's just in the high thirties, it'll just be pretty wet, but the ice should still be skatable. Here's hoping for lots of clouds...

I typically avoid going on the ice if it's higher than -3'C (27F) during the afternoon - especially if it's sunny - as I find it just chews up the ice. I'm a little more lenient during the mornings and evenings when the sun isn't as prominent like goblue already stated. No way I would have anyone skating on it @ 37/38 let alone 17 people. I would also be worried about someone getting hurt on the soft ice.

Thanks guys, looks like we'll be passing on the skating tomorrow.
