Yeah I guess I could wait on that :)
its only about -11c to -18c here day to night. Still chilly, but not THAT chilly! (at least thats what the conversion is telling me) The scale changes still confuse the heck out of me.

I used two of those last year. They were outside all winter & held up well.

They are work lights and are typically designed to work outside. Make sure you get the ones with the weatherstripping on the housing.

With the halogen lights, some post on home depot and lowes indicate that you should avoid getting any water on the glass as it will crack... anyone having any issues with the cold/ snow with these lights? I used a string of work lights last year and it worked well which I'll repeat, but would like to improve the lighting and am planning on the halogen route, attaching the lights to surronding tree/ play strutures... My only concern is the glass breaking with the snow and the tempreture difference once the lights heat up... Any experience in this regard is appreciated!

I had my halogen out all winter hanging from a tree. No issues with it.

I have used the exact same halogen lights for several seasons and I never had the glass break from temperatures. I dropped one on the ice once and it smashes every where but that was me fumbling the ball.
I replaced all my lights this year and the last thing I am worried about is the glass cracking under severe temperatures - and it gets pretty cold. The one thing you need to watch though is any snow/ice sitting on the light will melt and might drip onto your ice surface making a bump.
