last year's white liner underneath this clear year's

I still have last year's beat-up liner. It was a 100 x 40 white 6 mil liner.

This year I procrastinated on ordering a new liner, and now all of a sudden it is TIME for the liner! The local store that sells them won't be open for another 4 days (they're closed til after New Year's. The nerve!)

I want a liner before that. I found that Home Depot has 100 x 40 6-mil liner, but only in clear sheets :(

So how big a deal is it to go with clear vs white?

Also, would it help to put last year's white liner underneath this year's clear liner? Is there a chance air would get trapped between the two tarps and cause more problems?

Thanks for any advice!

Some people will tell you that white is the only thing they'll use, but I've used both and never noticed a difference. Once you get your first snowfall or good skating day in, the ice is opaque and the liner color doesn't matter. Obviously never use black or blue or anything like that, but I've never had an issue using clear.

BTW, I'm up here in NH, and there is a local joint that sells the same clear stuff as HD, only in 40x100, 32x100, and 28x100 widths. Someone with a 20x40 rink could get a couple years out of their 28x100, which is around $100. Very good prices. It's called Mast Road Grain in Pinardville.

I used what I think is the same 100' x 40' 6 mil tarp from home depot. "Husky" was the brand I think. And yes, they only have clear and black.

It turns out that the "clear" is actually a milky translucent clear/white with this particular model. It's not plastic wrap clear...more like tissue paper clear if that makes sense.

This is my first year, but it worked A-OK.

You'll be fine with this liner. Put the white one under it if you want the added confidence.
