First skate last night!

Flooded on Sunday, it's been below freezing every day since. Last night I was able to get out and give it a test skate after the kiddies were asleep. Wife said I looked like a kid in a candy store, couldn't get the smile off my face.

Nice! I know the feeling...last year we were this early too. Not so this year...at least another week. Post up some pictures!

Congrats! I'm a bit jealous....actually a lot jealous. We're off to a slow start in Ohio. We have our first layer of ice as of this morning...very gratifying.

Jealous as well. Here in Wisconsin we had temps in the 20's for a couple of days and the pond was coming along nicely (nice smooth black ice) and now we are back in the forties with rain coming.........ughhhhhhhhhh.....

The Pond Hockey Gods are mocking me!! :)

Decent weather here this week...30's during the day, 20's at night...but 50 forecast for next Monday, followed by a snowstorm Tuesday. That's a dealbreaker. And so we wait.

Our good fortune didn't last long. Last couple days have been near 40, with a little mist/drizzle yesterday. Good news is that this seems to have given the slab a chance to "naturally" re-surface itself. Thursday we're supposed to be back below freezing and stay that way for at least a week. At least we got one skate and a game of boot hockey in!

At least you got a few skates in. It is in the 20's at night here in MA but its up in the 40s every day and it looks like its going to be 50 on thursday with rain. Its seeming like the ponds will never freeze.

Although our winters this far North are harsh, they do have some advantages. The city flooded us 17 days ago and even though we had a warm spell in the upper 30's, the rink held up great. Rink is 51 X 71 and played for a second straight Saturday night with the fellas. 3 on 3 for a couple of hours. Man am I sore. Hope you guys get the weather you need so that you can get it done. Nothing better than letting the kids skate all day, flood, then let the big kids play at night. Flooding with the 55 gallon barrel to get our inch thickness back up to par.
