Rink in the cornfield

Hi everybody, we are building our first rink this year and are planning to put it in a tilled cornfield. I have no expeirince whatsoever with liners, and am wondering if the liner will potentially be damaged by the corn stalks. The field has been ripped, so most of the stalks are layed over, and i am planning to flatten the whole area with a yard roller.
Also, since we are in the country we have well water that is not reliable enough to fill a rink. We are planning to haul water from a nearby creek, but it may be a lengthy process. does it matter if the water sits in the liner for a couple weeks before it freezes, as we continue to fill it?
Thanks
Jesse

Thanks Joe,
i am planning to put down tarps or plastic to keep my liner away from the cornstalks.

my first three rinks were over cornfields, laid a tarp down before my liner and never had any problems. good luck
