I can clear the snow off my my pond rink without trouble, but there is always a layer of really thin snow that has to be broomed off to get the ice really smooth. This isn't a big deal but I'm wondering if there is a faster way to do this. I usually use a shovel if the snow fall is an inch or so and the atv with a plow for more. Thanks!

if you can use warm water in your zamboni/rink rake it usually melts that snow. sometimes regular old cold water melts it too.

Two thoughts: squeegee or backpack blower. Or just skate through it and chalk it up to outdoor charm!

You'll never get all the snow off the ice no matter what method you use (shovel, broom, blower). I'll back Matt on the use of water - whether hot or cold, that flood will get rid of all the last particles of snow and make for a beautiful ice surface ready for skate marks.

I found a way, because it was too warm to sweep it all off. Power broom does the trick! (the one that looks like a weed whacker with rubber drums on the end of it) if you happen to have one lying around they work great...if not...dont buy one they are really expensive...

Thanks for the replies! I just made a homeboni out of copper, so i'm going to give it a try instead of just using a hose with a pump for flooding. The last snow fall we had I got the majority of the snow off and then flooded the pond. It seemed that unless I melted the little snow I had left with the water, it just froze and left bumpy ice. Oh well, first year experiments I guess!
