Re: Pond Hockey Heaven in Central WI

Wowsa...one of those "pass for miles" types of scenes. Better hope the puck doesn't hop over your blade!

Re: Chris from Bedford NH

As the subject states, I am Chris from Bedford NH. This is my second year doing a rink, and the quality should be much higher this year, as I decided to spend a little money this year to build it right rather than just throw a bunch of leftover junk together :) I dont have kids but I am a big kid m...

Re: First skate last night!

At least you got a few skates in. It is in the 20's at night here in MA but its up in the 40s every day and it looks like its going to be 50 on thursday with rain. Its seeming like the ponds will never freeze. Yup...I have about 6 rinks to fill and haven't done any yet. Just too warm during the day...

Re: Ken in Spokane

Hey Ken, Just be glad you didn't pay $300 for a water truck delivery before you found your leaks. There are worse things than waiting for a fill, trust me. Two schools of thought, mostly weather-dependent. If you live where it's bitterly cold throughout the winter, and your leaks are in the shallow ...

Re: Pat in Cleveland, Ohio

Wow. Last year was my first rink and at this time last year my son was skating. I cut down a tree to make the rink bigger this year = 20x40. Boards are up, liner is in the box in the garage, and the patio heater is ready to roll. Just need mother nature to cooperate. Great web site. I used your art...

Re: Steve in Minne!

Welcome Steve! Doing is the best way to learn, so good for you giving it a shot. A 24" slope is a bit risky with 24" boards. You'll have water cresting over your deep end with only a thin layer at your top end, and a thin layer may not hold your weight. Doesn't sound like you've filled yet...

Re: Steve in Minne!

The problem is not the contour of the bottom of the boards and the ground, but the height of the top. If you want 4" of ice at a minimum in your highest area (and you do), with a 24" slope, that means the water will need to be at 28" in your deep corner. If your boards are only 24&quo...

Re: Tips or tricks for maintaining and making a rink on a La

Hmmmmm.....using the water of the pond to actually resurface the ice!! The wheels are starting to turn.....:) Can any of our resident pond hockey tournament directors chime in on this? I feel like this is the way they resurface as well. Seems a waste not to tap into an endless supply of water just ...
