We have the same weather up here, warm, rain, lots of fog. Add to that I have a leaky liner and have lost about 4 inches or so and I'm feeling your depression as well. I am down to the liner in my shallow end. Hope it gets cold soon, or my season will be over just after it began.

We use regular black pucks in our organization for that exact reason. Due to the blue pucks not being as heavy, they don't behave like a puck should once there is a little snow on the ice. Kind of like when you leave your practice pucks in the house and take em to the rink warm, only worse.

My results have been pretty good, That says it all IMO.... stick with what your doing if it works. I use either bucket dumps or the open end of the hose on my rink with great success. If I'm just looking to smooth things out after a skate I'll just walk the rink with the open end of the hose hangin...
