Re: New England Pond Hockey Classic

We did the house rental bit last year. It was far cheaper, the whole team was together and didnt have to worry about making noise so much. Downfall was the drive, but it was worth it considering price difference.

Chris from Bedford NH

As the subject states, I am Chris from Bedford NH. This is my second year doing a rink, and the quality should be much higher this year, as I decided to spend a little money this year to build it right rather than just throw a bunch of leftover junk together :) I dont have kids but I am a big kid my...

Re: Preferred base layer?

I generally just stick with a tshirt sweatshirt and sweatpants. Though I was super excited last spring to skate in shorts and a tshirt during the last few days of rink usage! :)

Re: Finally cold in New England...

I finally got out for my first skate yesterday. Due to my uneven yard the water isn't TOTALLY frozen yet and some was pushing out of the corners when I was skating 'hard' but I was able to get a good hour skate in anyway! I want to skate again but I dont know if its worth the risk with the warmth......

Re: Kevin in Ottawa, Ontario

Ottawa is a great city! My wife and I went there for our honeymoon in 09! (strange I know) and for my B-day (during our honeymoon) we went into Kanata to watch the sens beat up on Tampa (missed the B's coming in by about a week). I want to go back to Ottawa and skate on the canal! (have you ever? is...

Re: What's your "must have" rink tool?

I'm loving my home-boni as well! Last year was my first rink year and I filled late. It snowed while there was still water under my ice and the water pushed up the sides from the weight of the snow and froze it in awful bumpy crusty fashion. I was figuring my rink was a loss, but tried the home-boni...

Heavy snow

The heavy snow and (due to warm weather and a deep corner) not fully frozen slab, I had a corner of my rink sink today :( hopefully the good solid cold that is coming this weekend will freeze the completely open-water corner of my rink! And hopefully I will get some good fill in the spring so I can ...

Re: Finally filled my rink

Its definitely been a tough season so far! Ive been on my partially frozen rink a handful of times, but I dont think its thick enough to support more than just one adult haha! I hope we can still get a couple good months of skating in now that its finally getting cold!
