Re: The Sudeenew Slab

Looks fantastic and welcome! Fellow Chicago area guy (St. Charles). My dad is your neighbor (Fox Lake). Couple of questions: - What do you have holding up the lights/cords - to my eyes, looks like 2" PVC. - What lights do you have? I still have to buy mine. - When are you planning on liner down...

1st Timer - Chicago Burbs

Great site/forum and lots of great tips. My 10 year old twins play Squirt hockey, so this will be a great winter. Out of the house, off that friggin' Minecraft and on the ice! Building my rink this weekend: - 26x45 - 2x12 3 sides with the Iron Sleek brackets/kit (they are local so bought/picked up f...

White Film for Covering 4' Boards?

So, I want to cover my boards (4' on one end and 4' on the sides - think U shaped. My liner will go over the sides of the 2x12" on three sides, so they'll be 'covered' and snow will but against it (supposed to get 2" tonite). The issue is that 4' plywood. I didn't get a chance to paint the...

Re: The Sudeenew Slab

Might wanna recheck the forecast.

Looks like mid to upper 30s on Sat/Sun and into the 40's on Monday of next week.

Bummer. I was hoping to flood her later this coming weekend as well. Oh well, I guess I do the full Clark W. Griswold and put up Christmas Lights.

Fixing surface issues

I have a common issue and think I know the solution but want to verify Had pristine ice last week. Then a solid day of slush and rain. Couldn't get all of it off. Got cold and froze Lots or ridges and unevene unskateable surface Now it is bitterly cold in Chicago (sub zero windchill) So to fix, here...

Skating Since New Years Day - Things I've Learned

Ok, rink went up around Turkey Day. Filled on December 29. Skating on 1/1. This is my first year doing this. Here's what I've learned/pro-tips: - Those flooring scraper things (at Home Depot - used for lifting up linoleum) are fantastic! - Shoveling powdery snow is much better than shoveling wet sno...

Re: Skating Since New Years Day - Things I've Learned

Great post. First timer here as well. Follow up question: I had heard that the Skaboots strap breaks very easily. Are you having that experience? I'd love to get a few sets as I'm currently carrying the kids to the rink from the house. Thanks. Nope. All good. They actually changed the way in which ...
