You definitely need to do something about this, the liner can slip under the space and cause some serious havoc. I ended up using grass clippings that someone conveniently dumped by my tree. You could use soil too. Just my 2 cents.

Joe- I completely agree. This was actually the width of my liner and it's as far as it would go. I didn't get a liner that was big enough and that's been a serious regret.
