Once again we have decided to reschedule Battle on the Bay 2012 pond hockey, due to our uncooperative weather. The new dates are Saturday February 19th and Sunday February 19th. $200 per team early registration is extended to February 15th provided openings remain, $250 there after. Call Terry Darling @ 248-245-0012 to reserve a spot. All seven divisions have openings although several are near full. Don't miss out! Looks to be a great tourmament. Checkout our website at battleonthebayhockey.com for rules & regs., and team rosters.

33) Your wife will ask you to shovel the driveway before you shovel the rink. Always clean the ice off first. The rink will love the attention and look great. Your wife will look good in the spring and need attention from all the working out she has done all winter, while you were outside.

I built this thing in 15 minutes yesterday and I will tell you its works perfectly. PVC is light enough to carry back and forth to the house so I recomend going that route. Copper is expensive and really, your using the thing for like 20-30 minutes a day, pvc is fine. For the towel behind, I used a commercial winter floor mat that I found at Home Depot for $11 right you walk right in the store. I cut abour 6 inches off and popped some holes in it to drag behind. I used 2 old shoelaces to loop over the PVC and a rubber band to keep them in place. The floor mat doesn't absorb that much water so its a perfect for this job.

My Frontyard rink has had boards for a while. Still no liner. Couple more weeks of this and the boards will be coming down.
Here in Northwest Ohio, winter has not shown up.
My only natural ice hockey this winter looks like Plaster Rock!! Thank God for Canada! I should have been born in a town named Rocky Mountain House!

31) If there is thin area on the ice and you warn your 8 year old to avoid that section; as soon as you go in the house he will skate over to the thin spot and chip at it, until he declares "There's hole here all the way down to the tarp!"

32) On the coldest nights when it is too cold to snow and you have flooded the rink, you shall look over your perfect ice surface and think "Life is good". (You will even forgive your 8 year old.)
